Comrades Marathon
The Comrades Marathon is an ultramarathon of approximately 89 kilometers which is run annually in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa between the cities of Durban and Pietermaritzburg. It is the world’s largest and oldest ultramarathon race.

Comrades Marathon is committed to making an impact across South Africa through their Amabeadibeadi Charity Drive, for which they have raised over R71 Million to date. The concept is simple. Runners are encouraged to run for a charity and to raise funds for that charity! At Rise Against Hunger that means with your support, we can raise funds for meals served through our ECD Connect Programme, which feeds children under the age of 6 in an educational environment. Below are some resources with tips and tricks to follow on how we can assist you in your fundraising journey.

Social Media
- Create a social media frame and share it with your followers here. To use the template, create a free Canva account and select “uploads” on the left panel to upload a picture of yourself. Drag the photo onto the clouds (existing photo), and click share in the top right corner. Then, save a copy to share across your social channels.
- Here’s a sample post copy to share with your custom photo: I have decided to use my Comrades run this year to raise awareness for vulnerable children desperately in need of nutritious meals. So, I have chosen to Run for Rise Against Hunger Africa, which provides meals to children across Africa at ECD centres. A meal only costs R3.40, so every donation rand I can make will make a huge difference!
